Rainbow Pitta
The Rainbow Pitta is one of Australia’s most colourful and sought-after birds. Secretive and beautifully patterned, it spends much of its time hopping through leaf litter on the rainforest floor in search of insects and snails.
If you’re lucky enough to see one, it’s an unforgettable sight.

🌈 Small, chunky bird with brilliant green wings and a blue tail

DID YOU KNOW?
Rainbow Pittas use rocks as anvils to crack open snails. They repeatedly smash the shells against a hard surface before eating the soft snail inside.
