Superb Fruit-Dove

The Superb Fruit-Dove is one of Australia’s most colourful rainforest birds. Despite its brilliant plumage, it’s surprisingly difficult to spot as it spends much of its time quietly feeding high in the rainforest canopy.

You’ll usually find them in tropical and subtropical rainforests, searching for native fruits.

    🌈 Small, chunky fruit-dove with a short tail
    💜 Male has a rich purple crown, bright orange breast and green wings
    💚 Female is mostly green with subtle markings
    🍇 Often seen quietly feeding on fruit high in the canopy
